Why Art is important part of education?
Sydney Gurewitz Clemens (a consultant in early childhood education) said, “Art has the role in education of helping children become more like themselves instead more like everyone else.”
Creative exercises are must for an individual’s brain to learn how to think. And once it starts thinking, the things change. Children need opportunities to look, listen and touch… so they can learn how to see, hear and feel. Our job is to inspire them to be curious. Because future belongs to the curious. We envision them to be individuals who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it, and turn it inside out. We motivate them to focus on what can be created instead of focusing on what cannot be changed. And the best way we know to do it, is through creative activities and arts therapy.
Hence, in January 2024, we organized a Painting Event at our Home Charity Trust for our orphanage girls and members of the society with help of the organization Peacemakers Pakistani and their team of volunteers to bring in the possibilities of enjoying activities among different people to end any sort of discrimination among children living within the society where our orphanage is, with help of arts.
This event helped our children to meet and socialize with different families and children and adults and feel a sense of belonging and dignity despite their backgrounds and existing living condition. They received much love and acceptance which made us very happy and satisfied about taking this plunge and also hopeful about their future as our belief with which we are raising them i.e. mercy and education. We will keep on doing such events for sake of the wellbeing of our children. InshaAllah.
