We hosted a Post-Eid Celebration, known as Eid Milan Party here in Pakistan, this Eid-ul-Fitr. It was also planned as a Play-Date and one pot party in our porch at HOME. We asked ladies of our society to bring in their favorite dish in one pot so we can experience the joy of sharing food and eating and celebrating together.
Porch party idea was also by Peacemakers Pakistani, with whom we have been hosting different events before. They say that “porch is a place to celebrate, gather and have fun. It’s a place of civic engagement as it connects our private spaces with the public spaces of our neighborhood like balcony, stoop, driveway, footpath, front lawn, streets etc. These spaces and interactions remind us of being part of a human community.” And we certainly felt it through the porch party experience.
This particular event was very special because more community people participated this time and were seen to fully enjoy the party as well. Mothers were equally enjoying themselves along with children and it was a sight worth praising.
We are grateful to the team of Peacemakers Pakistani and volunteers who helped us and made our children experience a fun party and make lots of memories. They planned a great event indeed. We look forward to more such events from their side and other organizations in Pakistan. InshaAllah.
